Brent is married and has three children. The Mayes family resides in the state of Georgia. Brent is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. He already possesses a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in Technical and Professional Communication from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Multidisciplinary Studies by completing graduation requirements for two programs of study: English and Religious Studies. Brent has served as a college instructor for over eight years. He has taught various English courses including Expository Writing, Literature and Research, Business Writing, and Technical Writing. He has also taught Public Speaking, Intro to Communications, and two variations of Humanities (“Technology & Society” and “Mythology”). In addition to teaching, Brent has served in college administration in such roles as Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Technology and Institutional Research, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Distance Education Coordinator with seven total years of service at the Senior Executive level.
